Additional Information

Additional activities include:  lock-ins, mission projects, Youth Sunday, Confirmation, fundraisers, retreats and summer trips.

Friends are welcome at practically any youth event.  If we are leaving the church for an activity, he or she will be required to have a permission slip on file with the church office.

Parents are vital to this ministry.  On a rotating basis, parents are asked to drive for events, provide snack suppers, help with fundraisers, stay for lock-ins, open their home for events or host youth on trips.  More information can be obtained from Pastor Kim, Steve James, or in the youth newsletter located in the church narthex.

Adult sponsors are church members who help lead the youth, plan programs, provide transportation and sponsor youth trips and activities.  Each sponsor focuses on either Mid-High or Senior High.

Youth Committee is an opportunity for the youth and parents to come express ideas and opinions about various aspects of our youth program. They meet the 1st Sunday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the Youth rooms. Officers include
  • Chair Persons, who are responsible for working with the Director of Youth Ministries to set meeting goals and agendas, as well as run God Squad meetings,
  • Secretaries, who are responsible for taking meeting minutes and distributing them to all committee members, as well as fill in for other officers as needed,
  • Evangelism Team, who do follow-up with youth absent from Youth Group and send thank you, encouragement, and sympathy cards as needed,
  • Public Relations/Historians, who publicize youth events, design flyers and posters, decorate the youth rooms, update the bulletin and white boards, and maintain the paper version of the youth scrapbook,
  • Communications Team, who write articles for the church and youth newsletters, bulletin and PowerPoint announcements, and coordinate speakers for announcements during worship.
Confirmation gives youth the opportunity to make their commitment to Jesus Christ and the United Methodist church firm. This is also how youth can become full members of the church. Confirmation classes begin in February and run through April. All youth who are currently enrolled in, or have completed, seventh grade and have not yet been confirmed are invited to take part in Confirmation class. Information about this year's confirmation class is available here.
